Description |
This project is consultancy services for updating of existing master plan of sewerage and sanitation, formulating a feasibility study on construction of a sewerage system targeting Paranaque City, Las Pinas City, and five adjoining coastal towns of Cavite Province including Cavite City in Metro Manila. Various sewage treatment technologies and processes were reviewed and a selection was made on the suitable technology for the project considering constraints of available space for the facilities at the identified sites. Various alternative cases of sewage and sludge treatments and facilities were formulated for the full project target areas, including the estimation of construction and operation / maintenance costs. From the selection criteria, the alternative cases were ranked and the best case was selected. |

Description |
This project is the preliminary conception study for improving water quality of Fangauta Lagoon located in the Tongatapu Island where the capital city, Nuku'alofa is situated. The water quality of the lagoon has been deteriorating due to an increasing pollutant load primarily from urbanization and changing lifestyle. Recently, unidentified odors are occurring at different locations along the lagoon. Since relatively little tidal exchange is made between the lagoon and the surrounding ocean, the water pollution in the lagoon has been accelerated. As a result of the preliminary study, OEC recommended a strategy which shall be developed into 2 phases: the short term program and the long term program. |

The sewage treated by the Dalseocheon plant consists of municipal and industrial wastewater. The industrial wastewater is particularly high in pollutant concentration, and is greater in amount. Furthermore, it contains heavy metals, so different methods were planned for its treatment. The plant capacity as of 1991 is to be 250,000m3/day, and the final capacity as of 2001 is 380,000m3/day. The treatment methods are conventional activated sludge for wastewater, and anaerobic digestion for sludge. |
